Crinum Calamistratum

Crinum calamistratum

The Crinum Calamistratum is a very graceful bulbous plant with dark green leaves that are strongly curled and crimped at the edges. The numerous firm and leathery leaves are reminiscent of the arms of an octopus. The bulbous appearance of the leaves will add a unique touch to the green in your aquarium, and on top of that, they are incredibly easy to care for, making them suitable for beginners.

For whom is the Crinum Calamistratum suited?

This aquatic plant is absolutely suited for beginners, especially for those who do not want their plants to dominate their tanks fully. They grow at a rather slow pace and do not require any special care to be healthy.

What are they like?

When the Crinum Calamistratum reaches the surface in open aquaria, they sometimes form beautiful white flowers, adding a gracious touch to the appearance of your tank. Their slow growth allows them to easily co-exist with other plants, so long as they can receive sufficient lighting.

The ideal conditions for the Crinum Calamistratum

The Crinum Calamistratum is very forgiving when it comes to the conditions in your aquarium. They can thrive in both slightly acidic and alkaline waters at temperatures between 12 °C – 30 °C, and the hardness of your water doesn't really matter much. They don't require intensive lighting, and supplementation with fertilizer is generally not required.

*All Plants may contain snails or snail eggs. We keep them in all of our tanks for the benefits they provide.*
