Jupiter’s Beard (Red Valerian) – 50 Seeds

Jupiter's Beard (Red Valerian) (Centranthus ruber) - 50 Seeds

• Heirloom
• Non-GMO
• American Grown Seeds
• Perennial
• USDA Zones: 5-9

Also known as Red Valerian, Jupiter's Beard is an heirloom flower that boasts clusters of tiny, radiant red or pink flowers. This charming perennial is loved for its long bloom period and its ability to attract a variety of pollinators, including bees and butterflies, enhancing the biodiversity of your garden. It's incredibly adaptable and is known to thrive in a variety of conditions, including poor, rocky soils and hot, dry exposures, making it an excellent choice for those hard-to-plant areas in your garden. When not in bloom, its gray-green leaves add texture to the garden landscape. A native to the Mediterranean, this plant is robust and hardy, surviving in USDA zones 5 through 9.

GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:
Sow Jupiter's Beard seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost, or direct sow outdoors in spring. Plant seeds 1/8-inch deep in well-draining soil. Maintain a temperature of 65-75°F for optimal germination, which takes 14-21 days. When seedlings have developed two true leaves, transplant them outdoors after the risk of frost has passed, spacing them 12-18 inches apart. Jupiter's Beard prefers full sun to light shade and adapts well to various soil conditions, including poor or rocky soil. Water regularly, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings.
