Boredom is a behavior trigger
Many “problem behaviors” are really unmet needs: not enough chewing, climbing, foraging, or novelty. Toy rotation is a simple system that keeps enrichment fresh without buying new toys constantly.
The 3-bin toy rotation system
- Bin A (This week): 2–4 toys in the cage/play area
- Bin B (Next week): different textures and challenges
- Bin C (Resting): cleaned and stored
What to include
- Shreddables (paper, palm, bird-safe fibers)
- Chews (wood, cuttlebone)
- Foraging toys (treat puzzles)
