Feeding Crested Geckos

CGD: The Foundation

Complete meal replacement powders from Repashy and Pangea serve as a nutritionally balanced primary diet. Mix powder with water to a smooth, ketchup-like consistency. Offer in a shallow dish or magnetic feeding ledge, replacing every 24-48 hours before it spoils.

Live Insects for Enrichment

Offer live feeders — crickets, small dubia roaches, or black soldier fly larvae — 2-3 times per week. Gut-load your feeders for 24-48 hours. Size insects appropriately: nothing wider than the space between the gecko's eyes.

Hydration

Crested geckos drink droplets from leaves and walls — most won't reliably use a standing water dish. Your daily misting routine provides most of their hydration. Still keep a small shallow dish of fresh water in the enclosure, especially in warmer months.

Supplementation

  • CGD offered 5-7 days per week as the staple
  • Live feeders 2-3 times per week for enrichment
  • Light calcium dusting on live feeder insects only
  • Replace CGD every 24-48 hours
