Placement is the fastest way to improve coral health
Many coral issues aren’t “mystery diseases.” They’re mismatch problems: too much light, too little flow, too close to a stinger neighbor, or too many changes at once.
Think in zones
- High light / high flow: many SPS (once stable)
- Medium light / medium flow: many LPS and hardy corals
- Lower light / gentle flow: many softies and shaded species
Acclimation rule
When in doubt, start lower and move up slowly. Corals can bleach from sudden light increases.
Flow + filtration support
Dead spots collect detritus and irritate tissue. Upgrading flow often improves coral extension within days.
