 kitty kardboard® was created out of the need for sleek, sustainable and functional product design, as well as modern, fashionable and trend-driven surface design, for cats and humans alike.

 ​you know that old cardboard shipping box that your cat is obsessed with but you don't have the heart to get rid of? let's just skip over talking about how about many dirty warehouse floors it's been on, how many toxic chemicals have touched it, and how unattractive it looks on your living room floor and cut to the chase...... we reinvented it.

we designed a smart, flat-packed and easy to assemble pyramid shaped cat box in a range of stylish and refreshing prints, so what would normally be garbage on your floor, is now a beautiful piece of decor for your home.

 so what's the deal with cats + cardboard boxes?

 we did the research + broke it down to show how by giving your cat a box, you may actually be helping to improve their well-being.

01. instinct

let's not forget that cats are natural predators, so it's instinct for them to seek out hiding places; a box is an ideal place.

02. therapy

when curled up inside a box, the walls provide pressure around your cat's body which relieves stress + calms anxiety.

03. komfort

cardboard is an insulator which helps regulate your cat's body temperature, making it the perfect material for napping.

04. sound

as curious creatures with extreme hearing capabilities, cats are intrigued by the sound that cardboard + paper make when coming in contact with them.

 when developing kitty kardboard® it was important to us to pay just as much attention to how the product was made, as we did to the design aesthetic.  we made sure every aspect of the product was safe, sustainable, and had as little impact on the environment as possible.

 ​all kitty kardboard® homes are made of 100% recycled and biodegradable cardboard, and use water-based, biodegradable ink to achieve our fun, colorful prints. they are even produced right here in the USA.

 kitty kardboard® homes were thoughtfully designed to fold in a way that allows the final packaged product to be as small as possible. with our patent pending flat-packed and super lightweight design, we're able to keep our carbon "paw" print nice and small.

Founder Story

 kitty kardboard® was created by los angeles based artist and designer named rosanna servodio. she was inspired by her beloved cat named kitty. rosanna was 19 and living on her own in new york city when she adopted kitty, a tiny 8 week old kitten at the time. they moved to los angeles together a few years later. kitty was right by rosanna's side through every hard time, happy time, and turning point of her twenties.

 ​since the beginning, kitty has been obsessed with cardboard boxes. some days there would be 3 or 4 of them scattered around their apartment for kitty's lounging pleasure. as a lover of minimal interiors, the boxes soon became an eye sore for rosanna and she found herself hiding them whenever guests would come over. however, knowing how much kitty adored them, she didn't have the heart to get rid of them.

 this sparked her curiosity - "why do cats love cardboard boxes so much?" after understanding where this adorable obsession stems from, her creative juices started flowing.

 ​that's when she set out to design and develop a line of modern, sleek cat boxes with artistic prints that would compliment your decor instead of disrupt it, paving the way for more "good design" for cats and the modern cat consumer. 

 everything about kitty kardboard® was inspired by kitty, from the pink of her nose that is now one of the foundation colors for the brand, to the logo which is a minimal representation of her curled up inside a box - and of course, the brand name itself. kitty was rosanna's number one love, product tester, business partner, therapist, and complete inspiration and motivation behind this journey.

 one day, out of nowhere, kitty got extremely sick when a terminal disease that had been dormant in her body manifested. kitty + rosanna fought for a month straight until kitty passed away.  this all happened just weeks after finalizing the production details for the product after years in the making. it was almost like kitty was waiting until her work here was done.  rosanna was devastated to have lost such an important piece of her life so spontaneously, and misses her like crazy everyday. the silver lining: kitty lives on through kitty kardboard®.

 ​kitty kardboard® will forever be in honor and in memory of our sweet, beautiful angel kitty.

to be eligible for a refund or exchange on a damaged item, you must first email us with a detailed description of the damage/issue,

and a photo would be very much appreciated. 

you're only eligible for a refund or exchange if your order arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect.

we don't accept refunds or exchanges on orders that were damaged by your cat.

once a refund is issued, funds will be reimbursed to the original form of payment within 5-7 business days.
