Humidity is the #1 success factor

Most snail issues trace back to humidity swings: too dry, too wet, or inconsistent. The goal is stable moisture—not constant spraying.

Signs humidity may be off

  • Snails staying sealed for long periods
  • Dry substrate and slow movement
  • Excessive condensation and mold

Natural-first humidity setup tips

  1. Use a moisture-holding substrate
  2. Add hides and leaf litter (species-appropriate)
  3. Mist lightly and consistently (not flooding)
  4. Improve airflow if mold appears

Cleaning rhythm matters

Over-wet + leftover food = mold. Keep portions small and remove leftovers.
